Andromeda Turre bids farewell to NYC

The talented daughter of talented musicians, Steve Turre and Akua Dixon, will take her leave to start a new venture at Disney, Tokyo, as the lead in their "Big Band Beat" production. She beat out hundreds of hopefuls who auditioned for that role. Though Andromeda will be gone for eight months, you can check out her "My Space" page.

Take a look at some photos from her going away party at the HIP Eatery called, "ONE" located at Little West 12th and 9th Ave. I had the mini cheeseburgers that were divine. The meat was tender, tasty and juicy; the fries, perfect, thin and a tad crunchy. That is a place that I intend to go back to.

At the Cherry Lane Theatre

This shocking classic race drama returns to the place where it all began in 1964 at the Cherry Lane Theatre. In Amiri Baraka’s Obie-Award Winning last play as LeRoi Jones, a white woman seduces a naïve bourgeois black man on the train with terrifying results.

The play features Dulé Hill and Jennifer Mudge with special appearance by Paul Benjamin and directed by Bill Duke.

I am going this Wednesday evening. After the play Amiri will take questions from the audience. If you do get to see the play you may want to go to Sweet Rhythm and hear some good music. And, you never know how will be hanging out there. On 2/7 Amiri was at Sweet Rhythm listening to Tia Fuller. Check the music calendar on this blog to see who is performing.
