Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton

I was overjoyed to meet Mr. President. This was at a private reception at Dance Theater of Harlem. You may want to read his interview with Herbie Hancock in the latest Jazziz magagine.

Peter Jennings and Me

Peter Jennings and Me

This was taken at Peter's last Christmas party. Eric Reed invited me as his guest and he took this fabulous photo. Peter was a great fan of Jazz and the musicians. He and his wife, Kayce Freed, hosted "Jazz At Jennings," for nine years. The even raised funds for a charity in Bridgehampton, NY. We, in the jazz community, miss him so much! Peter was a terrific man and a great humanitarian!

Sandy Jackson and Eric Reed at Veritas

Eric Reed getting a huge hug from Sandy Jackson whom we in the jazz community love dearly. Oh, yes, Sandy is the widow of the great vibraphonist, Milt Jackson.

Dorthaan Kirk at WBGO, 88.3 FM

Dorthaan Kirk at WBGO, 88.3 FM

We call her "Mama Jazz" at wbgo, she holds it all together as much as she can. Dorthaan is also the widow of Rahsaan Roland Kirk who Bill Clinton makes a reference to in his interview in Jazziz magazine. I have to say that Eric Reed takes the BEST photos of me, well, that is MY opinion-LOL!

(the late) Ray Barretto and Awilda at IAJE 2006

(the late) Ray Barretto and Awilda at IAJE 2006

For someone who does not go out often it looks like Awilda is in every photo, she sure gets around! Taken at IAJE. Ray received the NEA Jazz Masters award. He passed away a few weeks later.

Ward Mintz, Luciana Souza, me, Romero Lubambo

Ward Mintz, Luciana Souza, me, Romero Lubambo

This was taken at The Newark Museum when Ward was Deputy Director. He LOVES Brasilian music and was so thrilled to hear Luciana singing duets with Romero. She had been nominated for a Grammy that year. Romero is a terrific guitarist, we call him "Romero, the Great" among other things...

At Forno's in Newark, NJ

At Forno's in Newark, NJ

Some of those who traveled with Keith Brickhouse. We had a "reunion" lunch that I was invited to, though I had not taken any of the trips that they had been on, but we are all Brickhouse travelers. See, you can meet great people on those trips.

Alice Griffin, Edward Ellington (grandson of Duke and a musician), Barbara Purdie (wife of drummer, Bernard), Janice Bennett and Imogene Johnson.

Critic, Rex Reed, myself and Producer, Gene Davis, at the Algonquin

Critic, Rex Reed, myself and Producer, Gene Davis, at the Algonquin, when we were there to see, Vocalist, Paula West (who got rave reviews). How do you like Rex Reeds' white hair? He hates it, I love it. We both agreed, however, that it beats a bad "die job."
